Carl Haney has joined the The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. as executive vice president, global research and development, corporate product innovation, package development, beginning January 1, 2012. He will report to president and chief executive officer, Fabrizio Freda. Haney has spent more than 20 years at The Procter & Gamble Company, where he most recently served as vice president, R&D, male grooming, Gillette, Braun and devices, leading teams in all aspects of innovation, including product, packaging, process development and engineering.

Harvey Gedeon, who currently holds the position, has announced his pending retirement, and will remain with the company to work with Haney throughout the transition.
